Dr. Tophan Pati is a senior psychiatrist and currently the Professor & Head of the Department of Psychiatry at Hi-Tech Medical College, Bhubaneswar. With an MBBS and MD in Psychiatry, he has over three decades of experience in academic, clinical, and community psychiatry.
He founded The MIND (Multidimensional Institute for Neuropsychiatric Research and Development) in Bhubaneswar in 1997 and has served as a district epidemiologist under WHO-SEARO. Dr. Pati has held faculty positions in several medical colleges across Odisha and is deeply engaged in mental health services, training, and research.
Dr. Tophan Pati is a highly respected figure in Indian psychiatry, recognized for his pioneering contributions to clinical practice, education, and psychiatric advocacy. As a life fellow of multiple psychiatric societies including IPS, IAPP, AIPI, and IASP, he has also served as President of the Indian Psychiatric Society (Odisha State Branch) and held leadership roles at the national level. Dr. Pati has been instrumental in organizing national and international conferences, initiating PG psychiatry programs, and advocating for tribal and community mental health. He is also the editor of the Industrial Psychiatry Journal of India, a published author, and a recipient of numerous academic and social awards.
